Live Dealers a Huge Hit for Many Online Casinos

July 13th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in News

The ability to play many or even all of the traditional casino games over the web has been available for quite some time, but there has always been one element that players love which has been missing: the fun of a real dealer that brings his or her personality to the table. This is no longer an issue thanks to the number of sites that are increasingly offering real dealers live on camera to deal the cards out for players online. Blackjack is one game where the live dealers are especially popular, but baccarat and roulette are coming to weigh in as a close second. In order to draw in a whole new audience, many online casinos have found that offering human dealers helps to create a more social and connected atmosphere that gamblers love. While many times the choice dealers are beautiful women, this is not always the case and players have proven accepting of these new dealers despite their gender, looking for a more interactive experience and enjoying the increased viability of the casino staff who work to make the games more fun by adding a touch of their own personality.

Experts predict that this trend will grow over time as more online casinos see the value in giving real people the power to deal on camera. Many customers have already begun to spend more time in such games and some sites even let the dealers see the players, too. Microgaming, along with some other similar sites, have set up their own studios specifically for such games to help create an authentic casino atmosphere for those at home. Many gamblers have stated that the convenience of online gaming is that they can play their favorite games without needing to travel, but they miss the atmosphere. With live dealers on site, the problem is solved and everyone gets what they wanted.

Types of Online Casinos

The allure of the fun that casinos offer is the ability to have a great time in the company of those who also appreciate the type of entertainment that the gaming fans of the world are drawn to. While this is certainly fun in a land based casino, it is not always a possibility for those who are not able to travel around the globe constantly and that is why the online casino was first developed. Most of these offer a wide range of all the popular games that one would find in a typical casino such as blackjack, poker, slots, craps, roulette and baccarat, but the players are able to play directly from their own computer over a standard internet connection no matter where they are in the world or what time it might be. These casinos have become major gathering places for those players who do not live near a casino or who simply prefer to do their gaming from their own home without even needing to get dressed up. The attraction is obvious, but for those who wish to join in the fun it is always a good idea to know which types of casinos are out there and what each of them offers so that the best can be selected to meet an individual’s needs.

One of the very earliest types of online casino that ever hit the net was the downloadable casino software that first appeared towards the end of the 1990’s. This type of casino is still with us today and it offers superior graphics, sound and speed to any other kind. With the casino specific software it is very easy to get into the game and usually, this type of casino is quite secure at handling all of the data that needs to be exchanged in order to place bets and receive one’s earnings so it is certainly a strong choice for many people who want the ultimate gaming experience when they play online. The download itself can be big but normally only has to be downloaded once. Many times, this type of comprehensive gaming experience is precisely what those wagering are looking for because it keeps the whole process streamlined and really does feel more like a very entertaining video game with its better visuals and audio.

Then there are the web based casinos which one would play directly from the browser of their choice. These are fairly quick to browse, but normally they require some plugins which most people have already installed. There are straight HTML casinos but these are extremely rare these days since most online casinos that are using the web to deliver their games are going to be taking advantage of the technological wizardry offered by Adobe Flash, Shockwave or Java programming of some kind. This brings a full casino experience with music, sounds and all sorts of graphics that are only slightly less impressive than the downloadable casino software. These sites are generally safe but one always needs to have a virus scanner in place just to be safe. Common sense always wins out so as long as safe browsing practices are in place, players find that these casinos offer a nice quick way to get into the game.

Finally, the newest type of online casino is the live casino which features actual dealers instead of computerized systems. These dealers and other casino staff do their magic in front of the camera to the delight of players from around the world, bringing a very real casino experience that is generally shot in a special studio. All the same rules apply, the addition of real live people makes the event fun for many players who like the warmer atmosphere and choose it over the more sterile gaming experience from casinos that are primarily computer based. There is a lot of atmosphere in this type of casino that can’t be found elsewhere but the action might not take place as quickly as it would when the computer is running things.

The casino online industry has always been focused on innovative ways to provide a range of fun and entertainment for those gamers who love having a chance to win huge prize money over the web from the comfort of their own homes. In fact, this industry is now well over a billion dollar industry worldwide which has lead to the opening of not only thousands of high quality sites, but sites that are able to offer unique games to the audience that they can serve best. This is one of the ways that people have begun to see online casinos as sometimes even preferable to those which require a drive to visit. The simplicity and ease of use appeals to many as does the rapid pace of pay outs which are the very corner stone of gaming on the web. Many sites now offer a range of exciting games that are not found in traditional land based casinos that truly harness the strengths of the web to deliver cutting edge entertainment where it is possible to win a huge cash prize from an establishment like Europa casino.

Possibly one of the best examples of this can be found in the world of online slots. These are much more highly evolved than their cousins in casinos because the web is a platform for delivering incredibly high complexity entertainment that simply would not be cost effective for a typical casino. With the advances in graphics, animation and audio technology, it is easier than ever fro slots online to provide amazing changes for gamers to not only win big, but stay entertained throughout their game. An example of this type of slot would be the latest Gonzo’s Quest which is a much richer experience than most game sites have offered in the past. The new game, available from Casinoonline.co.pt, features a conquistador character who is looking for the lost golden city of El Dorado in the hopes of accomplishing precisely what ever gamer is looking for: a huge amount of wealth all at once.

Many sites have put a great deal of effort into renovating their offerings to include such free casino games and Casinoonline.co.pt stands as a prime example of what can be offered in terms of online gaming technology to create a more entertaining experience.

Disastrous Haiti Quake Pulls Poker Players Together to Rally for Aid

April 13th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in News

The tragic earthquake that rolled through the Caribbean nation of Haiti sent rippled around the globe, triggering many to want to do something to help out the victims whose homeland was almost totally laid to waste. However, it was not only governments and charities that leapt up to send aid as fast as possible, it was also poker players from around the globe who united over digital mediums such as Twitter in order to prod public support for the victims. The island country became a focal point for many pro level players who leveraged their star power to raise awareness of the Haitian people and to ask their fans and competitors to donate to the cause, even donating themselves and taking part in ‘dummy tournaments’ to help raise money via massively popular online poker sites that they regularly patronize. Poker luminaries Howard Lederer and JC Alvarado were two such examples, each of them using their favorite sites to help pitch in. Many big online casinos also promised to match donations, creating a big cash pool to give to charities that could directly assist the Haitian victims.

In an already impoverished nation, the hundreds of thousands of dollars raised so quickly are going to go a long way towards bringing the country back to a level that allows it to take care of its citizenry. Aid groups have praised the players, crossing religious and social boundaries to congratulate the poker community on standing up for people in need and contributing valuable monetary contributions to the international relief efforts.

Key to Beginner’s Luck in Online Poker is Playing Fewer Hands Research Proves

April 13th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in News

Many who are new to the world of online poker are making some very critical errors, according to recent research conducted by academics at Cornell University. According to the newly released studies, those who play fewer hands are much more likely to get better rates of actual wins than those who play large numbers of hands. The researchers have explained that this phenomenon is due largely to the fact that over time, beginners forget to tally their losses the same way that they do with their wins, thus giving them a false level of confidence in how well they are playing the game. By playing fewer hands, those who are just starting out are able to get a much better and more math based understanding of the online poker world and how the games flow so that they can keep track of their odds more easily. Since the study was conducted by experienced poker players with extensive academic experience, it has gained real traction in the poker world where outsiders are often seen as being purely critical of the culture and its favorite past time. These researchers had no such issue convincing the players they knew what they were talking about.

One other fact that many were mildly surprised by had to do with the way that hands are played. Researchers discovered that for those just starting their poker careers, the best choices for them were often smaller numbered pairs as opposed to pairs of 10’s, 9’s or 8’s. The reason for this is that players knew right away that the lower numbered pairs were not worth trying to win with, but the higher numbered pairs would lure them to keep them and then end up losing. This effect on new player’s wagering decisions proved detrimental to the surprise of researchers.

One More US State Legalizes Blackjack and Poker in Sanctioned Establishments

February 27th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in News

Nevada is rapidly becoming less and less the star of gaming in the United States as Pennsylvania steps up to the plate and scores a new victory for fans of casino gambling. In a nation with an on again, off again love affair with casinos, this is a surprise to some, but not to gaming industry experts who have been predicting further shifts in legal code as state budgets grow tighter and tighter. More states than ever before have begun to loosen their restrictions as the political landscape begins to change thanks to the economic woes being faced by not only the US, but the rest of the globe. Traditionally, casinos in Pennsylvania have only offered slot machines, for the most part, but this new change in the law opens the door for blackjack, poker and many other table games that are promising to do big business in the northeastern state. By taxing not only casinos, but gamblers who pocket big wins and the licensing needed to run a gaming establishment, the state stands to put quite a lot of cash into its empty coffers thanks largely to a newly open mind about casinos.

Other states that have made similar moves in the last few months include Maryland, Indiana, Illinois, Delaware, West Virginia, Kentucky and even New Jersey. Each of these have made at least small local changes and now that Pennsylvania has joined in, it will be able to compete more easily with its neighbors when it comes to luring in gamblers who might otherwise have headed to Atlantic City, Las Vegas or a variety of Native American casino locations on reservation land that is not affected the same way by state regulations.

Baccarat

February 14th, 2010 | Comments Off | Posted in Guides

Having first been invented in Italy before making its way to France purely on the strength of its popularity, Baccarat became wildly popular in the 15th Century, winning over many fans. The actual meaning of the word Baccarat is strange for a game of its type because it actually refers to the hand of lowest worth in the game. This particular game has two primary flavors, Punto Banco and Chermin de Fer, but there is also a version called Baccarat Banque which is not as popular. Punto Banco is the most popular version and is played in casinos around the world as a game of chance that is loved by many. Chermin de Fer is most popular in France and related countries and uses an element of skill in its play. In Australia, Canada and the United States, it is Punto Banco that is played and the game is wildly popular as a high stakes gamble, often having a specific room set aside for it in most casinos. There are three primary outcomes that are possible in Baccarat: Player, Banker and, of course, Tie. Those playing are able to bet on either the Banker or the Player hands and depending upon the outcome of these hands, the winner is selected.

Card values are the primary component of determining a winner in Baccarat. An Ace is worth a single point; Kings, Queens, Jacks and 10’s are worth nothing; and all other numbered cards are worth their face value. By adding the values of the cards in a hand, a score is tallied up and once the total value of a hand is more than 10 points, the tens place is removed to give the total score. That boils down to a 16 being worth 6 or an 11 being worth 1 point. Thus, the highest possible score in a hand of Baccarat is 9 and the lowest, for which the game is named, is a 0. The game is traditionally played at a large oval shaped table with one dealer on each end and a croupier in the center who deals the cards, generally from a shoe. A pair of cards is set on the table face down, being turned over for both the Player and the Banker. A tableaux on the green felt of the table will indicate at what point either of the two, Player or Banker, is allowed to draw a third card.

The claim to fame for Baccarat is its high level of glamour because this is a very high stakes game that is a real favorite of whales, the big money gamblers in any casino. Due to these exceptionally high rolling games, many casinos establish a separate room with extra guards just for Baccarat and the fact is, these casinos can even be cleaned out by one large Baccarat game since the stakes get so amazingly high. Those looking to play a wildly exciting game will choose this one because enormous sums of money are often risked and the payoff is bigger than at any other table in the entire casino, much to the delight of onlooker who often spend hours waiting to see a giant win.

Consumers have long been fans of games that allow them to reenact the wagering experiences they would enjoy in a casino and video game making giant SEGA Corporation plans to enter this market to provide top notch game design for virtual gamblers everywhere. By teaming with software developer Playtech, an experienced maker of similar games, SEGA hopes to set itself up for success in a market that industry analysts agree will soon be teeming with even more top tier game developers as gaming fans look for a more entertainment based experience. Among the expected offerings will be online poker, a surefire hit in a market that caters to poker players who are going pro at a faster and faster rate these days. SEGA also plans to leverage a cast of its world famous characters from such titles as Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead, Sonic the Hedgehog and Phantasy Star. These intellectual properties are part of the enormous gaming industry’s move to place more well known characters on slots and other machines aimed at the gambling public.

By leveraging its branded properties in this way, games can use the CTXM technology that is used to power such hit games as blackjack, roulette, slots and plenty of other favorites from the casino world. The games will be offered at various gaming centers where players will have a chance to wager real money in such titles as SEGAPoker and SEGACasino. These gaming websites and machines will all work together to deliver a gaming experience that SEGA is betting its competition doesn’t stand a chance of competing with.
